Do cam sites record you?

Cam sites do not record you while you watch: your camera is off unless you turn it on. What they do keep is the usual trail of an online account, and some save your private shows so you can replay them. The one thing no site can prevent is a person capturing their own screen.

What a site logs

• Your email address and username.
• IP addresses and login times.
• Your purchases, through a payment processor.
• Chat messages, which moderators can review.
• The rooms you follow and your settings.

This is ordinary account data, described in each site's privacy policy.

Recordings of shows

Public shows are often recorded by third parties and re-uploaded elsewhere. Models dislike it, sites send takedown notices, and it happens anyway. It concerns her image, not yours: you do not appear in a public show.

Private shows are different. Several sites save a recording of each private session to the buyer's account, as a feature. If you would rather not have them stored, look for the setting or delete them from your collection.

If you turn your camera on

In a cam-to-cam session your video is streamed to the performer. Sites forbid models from recording viewers, and reputable performers do not. But a screen can always be filmed or captured, and site rules cannot physically stop it. The practical answer is framing: no face, no identifying background. What a model can see of you covers the default situation, where she sees nothing at all.

Reducing what exists about you

1. Register with an email address used only for this.
2. Choose a nickname you use nowhere else.
3. Clear saved private recordings you do not want kept.
4. Check the statement name before paying: see discreet billing.
5. When you are done with a site, close the account through its settings and ask for your data to be erased.

Does the category matter?

No. The rules are the same whether you spend your evening in MILF rooms or hairy rooms: what is stored depends on the site and on what you switch on, not on what you watch.
